As a designer/maker, qualified to advanced City & Guilds level with many years experience, I can help you realise your dream of high quality, unique, well fitted garments using best quality fabrics. You can go to the Gallery to see examples of my work which encompasses all aspects of garment construction from tailoring to lingerie, traditional to avant-garde, day, evening, special occasion wear, non-traditional bridal wear, children's wear and hand knitting.

Unique Couture Tuition

Having taught in further education for several years, I was aware not only of the gradual withdrawal of funding and courses but of the lack of specific, independent dressmaking teaching locally. In response to this I set up Unique Couture Tuition which is registered with Learn Direct as a Learning Provider.

Workshops are highly practical with the number of participants usually limited to 6 to ensure you, and I, get the most from them. Whatever ability level you are at, whether a complete beginner who has never sewn before or you have skills you would like to explore further I can support your needs.  Venues are in the village of Skidby near Beverley in the East Riding of Yorkshire, famous for its windmill and giant Yorkshire puddings, the historic city of York and, from 2010, The Ropewalk, Barton-upon-Humber.  All venues are easy to get to and have parking and disabled access facilities.

I am also able to offer one-to-one tuition at my studio in Skidby or at a venue of your choice if you live locally and this has proved to be popular. The session is tailored to meet your requirements, this could perhaps be to get the most from your sewing machine or overlocker, garment block drafting and fitting or help with a specific project or technique.

Gift Vouchers are available for half and full day tuition sessions.

Skidby Dancewear

A recent addition to the business, Skidby Dancwear has been formed to meet the needs of local dancers and ice dancers for high quality custom made costumes.  Skidby Dancewear works closely with the client to produce high quality one-off, group and whole production dance, ice dance and drama costumes.  I can also remodel and renovate your exisiting costumes.

For sale:  made for a classical production of the Snow White ballet - 42 chorus costumes of skirt and leotard (8, 10 & 12 yr old sizes) 5 principal dancer costumes (14 yrs).  Best quality, made to be broken down for other productions and in perfect condition.  All serious offers considered!
