Dressmaking Pattern Cutting Machine & Overlocker skills City & Guilds
A very warm welcome to the UC Tuition website.
Whether you are completely new to dressmaking and pattern cutting or you have skills you would like to improve or explore further UC Tuition can help you achieve your dressmaking and pattern cutting goals!
In 2005, having spent many years working as a couture dressmaker and teacher in further and adult education, I decided to do something about the decline and limitations of traditional pattern cutting and garment construction courses by setting up UC Tuition which is registered with Learn Direct as a learning provider.
UC Tuition offers you flexible and affordable dressmaking and pattern cutting tuition in a way that fits in with your family and work commitments. You can book one-to-one sessions or join one of my friendly, regular monthly group sessions here in the village of Skidby which is near to Beverley, Hull and York in picturesque East Yorkshire. New for 2012 are 2, 3 and 5 day specialist courses and City & Guilds Fashion.
Unlike adult education and college courses where you are governed by their timetable and syllabus, I will discuss with you what you want to
achieve and I will then help you to meet your aims. This could be in a one-off session on sewing machine or overlocker skills, or an individual programme either in the monthly groups or one-to-one sessions, covering dressmaking techniques, making a specific garment, getting a fantastic fit, pattern drafting basic blocks, making and fitting a toile (fitting shell) and experimenting adapting yourblocks into patterns for unique garments.
The regular monthly groups are friendly, fun and limited to a maximum of 7 so you, and I, get the most from them.
For more information about one-to-one tuition, specialist courses and the dates for the monthly groups have a look at my workshop page.
I am always happy to talk about sewing and how I can help so please do not hesitate to contact me, I look forward to hearing from you and perhaps sewing together very soon.
