Specialist courses

New for 2012 I have extended my programme to include specialist courses over 2, 3 and 5 days and I am delighted to be able to offer City and Guilds Fashion and Pattern Cutting Levels 1 and 2 for the first time as an independent provider.

The first of these is a course I have been planning for some time revealing the inner secrets of a Chanel jacket and helping you to design and make your own interpretation to wear with pride!

I am excited to be working in collaboration with my good friend Ruth Brown, of Stone Creek Silk, who is well know for her textile printing and dyeing courses and one of the leading teachers on the ultra-modern technique of digital imagery on fabric.  Ruth has just published an invaluable book on digital imagery to add to her growing library.

We hope we are offering you something unique - the chance to dye and print your fabric with Ruth and then transform it into a unique garment with me.

For more information about the specialist courses please contact me, I am always happy to chat.

City and Guilds continues to be the 'gold standard' in creative skills qualifications and is recognised internationally.

Qualified to City and Guilds advanced standard myself, I have always wanted to offer this qualification as an independent provide to students in a flexible, affordable way that fits in with the work and family commitments.

I am delighted to now be able to do this under a new scheme that recognises the import role providers such as myself can play in passing our skills onto learners who want something more structured or who want to gain a recognised qualification.

I am presently taking expressions of interest and plan group and one-to-one sessions this year.

Level 1 Fashion is particularly suitable for beginners and anyone who has not studied for a fashion qualfiication before. It is in a modular format with a wide range of garment types and skills.

You will cover design theory, colour, generating design using simple ideas.  You will plan and make a garment.

Level 2 Fashion extends skills learnt at level 1 with more challenging techniques.

Level 2 Pattern Cutting is for anyone who wants to learn how to make their own patterns.  Some previous dressmaking experience is helpful but not essential.

Please contact me, I will be pleased to chat about this exciting opportunity.
